Archive colour photographs of the incredible BAC TSR.2 are few and far between, so we were delighted to find this fascinating image of XR219 in the Aviation News photo library. The TSR.2 is seen, possibly at Warton, with English Electric Lightning XR755 and EE Canberra B.2 WD937. There isn’t a date on the photograph, but it’s believed to have been taken in the mid-1960s, possibly 1966. XR219 was eventually scrapped, as was the Canberra, but Lightning XR755 survives and is preserved in Cornwall.
